~Educational Leadership

The art of management has to do with the ability to get others to successfully act in the direction of achieving plans, objectives and goals. Whether this happens by direct instruction or otherwise, it will always amount to a guiding of the behavior of others in a given direction. Leadership is the influencing process of leaders and followers to achieve organizational objectives through changes. In this regard a highly motivated workshop was conducted at HITEC, which was attended by all the Heads of the institutes.

Implementation of Standards Based Education in Pakistan

In order to achieve long term sustainable impact on the quality of education and improve student learning outcomes, the Curriculum Wing, Ministry of Education has developed standards and plans to institutionalize a standards-driven system involving content and performance standards, teacher training, learning support materials, and formative and summative assessments.

Through a strategy of direct alignment of national content standards with:

  • the new national curriculum
  • formative and summative testing
  • content pacing guides for teachers
  • educational materials design, including but not limited to textbooks
  • pre-service and in-service teacher training
  • monitoring, mentoring and supervision of teachers
  • record-keeping resources (assessment portfolios etc.), and
  • lesson planning

Standards will be at the forefront of the Ministry of Education's reform plans. Standards, simply put, enable us to understand what needs to be taught, what needs to be achieved, and provide us with a reference point for the design/development/implementation of many of the other components in the system.
